January Doctor Visits

January Doctor Visits

Here’s the quick and dirty on the January visits.  I’m halfway through Phase 2 of chemotherapy (my stomach gets a funny feeling whenever I type that word now). January 30th is my last one. This is a tougher regimen, and I am so thankful that an end is in sight. As I mentioned in the Travel Notes, my fingers, nails, toes and nose are all a funny dark color. This round actually makes my nails feel both tender and numb underneath, so it’s more difficult to open things. I’ve been staying home a little more often since I’m immunocompromised. All things considered, the treatments are working, and I will be ready for surgery when the time comes.

Visit number two to the breast surgeon went well. She was pleased with the way things are going, and gave me two possible dates for surgery. Again the complete pathologic response is key, and both she and the oncologist are very encouraged.

My visit to the plastic surgeon did not go as well.  Unfortunately, due to circumstances beyond my control, that appointment had to be rescheduled for early February.  I am hoping and praying that his schedule will mesh with the breast surgeon’s, and I’ll get the date in early March.

Until then, I’m holding fast and staying the course.  I’ll update you when I get the results of my next mammogram and ultrasound.
