Exciting News!

Exciting News!

When I started this blog, it was primarily to keep my friends and family updated on my condition. I was conflicted about blogging, but wanted to share information in the most convenient way possible. After some listening prayer, I realized that God was encouraging me to go public with the diagnosis and blog. Okay…big step. Then, as I started writing, I realized that not only did I want to share information, I wanted to chronicle my journey and let people in on my state of mind and heart as I go through this; Along The Journey had become a journal of sorts.

The blog has morphed again! Shortly after starting it, I heard from people who were referring friends to the site who have also been diagnosed. Some of you beautiful women have told me how much it means to read the entries and see some of your own experiences reflected there, or to see where you will soon be traveling. I was amazed by that, and started to wonder if that wasn’t part of God’s plan; after all, he wastes nothing. In that vein of thinking, I want to let you all know that there is a beautiful woman here in Tucson named Nadia Larsen who conquered breast cancer and is serving her sisters in arms.  She has started a nonprofit photography and breast cancer resource called Nadia Strong. She heard about the blog through a reader and friend of hers, and she and I will be doing a photo shoot and interview with KOLD, a local television station, today. I’ll let you know when the two minute segment will air, and will post a link to it here on the page. I pray that through this segment many will be encouraged. I’m going to be 100% me–bald head and all.  I also pray that my hips and stomach don’t look too big. You know the camera adds 15 pounds, and so do these darn steroids. I can’t wear slimming black, so I have to figure something out. When it comes down to it and you see the photos, lie to me. Tell me I look thin and fabulous.  I won’t get mad.
